Beverage Nutrition Label Guide — FDA Rules for Drinks
Nutrition labels for soda, juice, functional drinks, and RTD beverages. Liquid RACC, added sugars, caffeine, and Supplement Facts vs Nutrition Facts.
Published: 2026-06-03
Beverage summary: Drinks use liquid RACC (mL/fl oz) per FDA tables. Sodas must show added sugars; energy drinks with dietary ingredients may need Supplement Facts instead of Nutrition Facts.
Nutrition Facts vs Supplement Facts for drinks
| Product type | Panel type | |--------------|------------| | Soda, juice, kombucha (food) | Nutrition Facts | | Energy shot with botanicals | Often Supplement Facts | | Protein RTD with vitamins | Depends on formulation — consult 21 CFR 101.36 |
Liquid serving sizes
FDA RACC for beverages is typically 240 mL (8 fl oz) for many categories. Multi-serve bottles still show per serving; large formats may trigger dual-column rules.
Label checklist for beverage brands
